Villa v West Ham: Striker aiming for poetic Holte End moment

Harrison

Grant Holt is determined to open his Villa account - and he'd love to do it in front of the famous Holte End.

When Villa swooped for the on-loan Wigan striker last month, supporters talked up the poetic link between Holt and the historic Villa Park stand with a similar name.

The 32-year-old is yet to break his goalscoring duck for the claret and blues but admits a 'Holt in front of the Holte' scenario would be stuff of dreams.

"It doesn't matter where it is or where it comes it would be nice to get a goal," said the former Norwich City hotshot.

"Obviously with the nostalgia of that stand you want to score in front of it and you want to be involved with it.

"I'm hoping in the next couple of games and months I can do it."

Although there was inevitable disappointment in the camp following Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Everton, Holt insists Villa's return of four points from the last three games should not be scoffed at.

Paul Lambert's side bagged a draw at Liverpool before beating local rivals West Bromwich Albion 11 days later.

Holt believes those recent results should give the team a strong platform to build from going into an important double-header against West Ham and Cardiff.

"We're happy with the three games if you put them in context, with the four points that we got out of them - we'd have taken that," he said.

"As a group we're confident and we're looking forward to the next two games.

"I know they're going to be different but it's good to be involved in it."
