Ladies FA Cup: Show support today as Villa ready for Doncaster
Villa Ladies are aiming to go far in the FA Cup this season as they get set for their third round clash with the impressive Doncaster Belles outfit.
The game takes place at their new home ground - Sutton Town - and boss Ron Mellor says his team will be "physical and mentally ready" for the exciting encounter.
Doncaster Belles have been a top-flight outfit for many, many years but under the new divisional changes, they will compete with Villa Ladies this season in Women's Super League 2.
They will offer a tough test, according to manager Mellor, but he believes his players can rise to the challenge.
He said: "The FA Cup has a charm and excitement matched by few competitions so we look forward with much anticipation to the game, wanting, of course, to reach the next round.
"We have - and are - working extremely hard both on and off the field to prepare for this game.
"Doncaster Belles has a much changed team with several of their players relatively unknown quantities.
"This makes our analysis of their strengths and weaknesses rather difficult. But we will make sure that we are ready.
"Villa Ladies know the significance of this first home game, for themselves, their fans and our club so we intend to be mentally and physically prepared before we step out onto the pitch at Sutton Coldfield this Sunday.
"Those who are able to come and watch - and I hope there are many - will be impressed by the industry, determination and skill of the team.
"It is also an exhilarating and strange twist of FA Cup fate that our first competitive game of the season - and my first as manager of the team - comes against Doncaster, having played many games at their former ground Belle Vue."
The match kicks off at 2pm this afternoon at Sutton Town, Central Ground, Coles Lane, so please come and support the team.
