Everton v Villa: Lambert - Benteke has his mojo back
Benteke now has three goals in three games - against Arsenal, Liverpool and West Brom.
But manager Lambert is equally happy with the way Benteke is now leading the line and bullying defenders.
Benteke struggled this term after a fine opening to the season but he's now hitting the heights again, with all aspects of his game in fine fettle.
Lambert said: "Against West Brom, he was unplayable.
"When he's on it, he's just a handful.
"He's a young guy and he has the best years ahead of him.
"That's him scoring three in three. He did the same last year - he went on an incredible run.
"But his general game is pleasing. That's what I'm enjoying. It's getting back to what it was.
"His general game has picked up. His actual level of performance has been really, really high.
"His goals are flowing too obviously.
"He's back to his best. The goals have helped. When he's like that, as I said, sometimes he's unplayable. His general game has been excellent."
Lambert pointed to the break Benteke had a few weeks ago, where the striker was sent back to Belgium to rest up after struggling with his knee.
The boss believes that was an important moment - and a very good decision.
He added: "I think the break for Christian was important.
"Sometimes it's not about getting treatment on an injury. It's about managing it and man-managing someone.
"Giving him that break has certainly been great for him.
"It's about recognising what your player needs. We knew he had a knee problem and he was playing through it.
"It wasn't getting any better so we had to think of something else to try.
"He's come back and he's been excellent."
