Delph backed for England World Cup role after super season
El Ahmadi has been astounded by the midfielder's tenacity, energy, class and will to win.
And he thinks the performances of Delph in claret and blue certainly merit a closer look from Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson as the World Cup draws ever closer.
He said: "When I first joined and trained, I could quickly tell that Fabian was one of the best players in the group. That was obvious.
"I heard too when I came here that he had problems with injuries but thankfully he's fit and well now.
"He has such quality. On the ball he tries to make things happen in an attacking sense and he defends very hard too.
"He's been the best player this season in my opinion.
"We have had some very good players on top form but he has stood out definitely.
"He has been very good in most games. He has been very consistent.
"He is a strong personality in the dressing room too. He's a leader in there, always getting us going when we're winning, drawing or losing.
"He's very competitive too. He hates losing. He never likes to lose. You see that in him. You sense it too by the way he plays.
"He drives the other midfielders on too. I have been impressed with Ashley Westwood in there also. He's been excellent since he's been here.
"But if Fabian keeps going like this, I think he would deserve a chance in the England squad.
"I know I'm not the England coach - and it's my own personal opinion - but Fabian is as good as the other lads playing for England.
"I think he deserves the chance to show what he can do. That's my opinion."
