Liverpool 2-2 Villa: Upbeat Weimann on Anfield goal boost

Andreas Weimann spoke of his delight at getting back on the goal trail - after hailing Villa's Anfield display as "unbelievable."

Weimann's first Barclays Premier League goal since September put Villa in front in Saturday's thrilling 2-2 draw against Liverpool.

The Austrian arrived in the six-yard box to convert Gabby Agbonlahor's low cross from the right.

And the 22-year-old hopes to kick on after ending his drought.

"It was nice to get a goal again," said Weimann.

"It has been a long wait for me. Hopefully I can kick on now.

"With Gabby's pace there is always a chance that he's going to go past the defender.

"Luckily I was just in the right place at the right time to put it in."

Weimann reckons Villa produced their best football of the season in the first half on Saturday.

But he admits Daniel Sturridge's strike just before the break gave the Reds a major shot in the arm.

"We played fantastic in the first half," added Weimann.

"We were unbelievable. It was the best we've played and it was just a bit disappointing that we didn't go in 2-0 up at half-time.

"Once they scored the first goal you knew they were going to go for it and try and get the second.

"Unfortunately we didn't get the three points but I think it is a good point away from home at Anfield."
