Liverpool v Villa: Guzan on need to stop in-form Suarez
Brad Guzan says Villa must stay alert to the danger of Luis Suarez on Saturday.
Guzan believes the team must "expect the unexpected" because of Suarez's ability to score every kind of goal imaginable.
But he strongly insists that the claret and blue backline have the ability to keep the Uruguayan international quiet in his own backyard.
Guzan says he's in confident mood personally and has total belief in the claret and blue backline to stay strong under the severest of tests.
He said: "Suarez is at the top of his game right now. He's a great player, that's there for all to see.
"He will try and cause problems for every back four he comes up against.
"His form is there. He's scoring goals and playing with a lot of confidence.
"It's going to be a challenge but it's a really exciting one.
"As professional footballers, you want to compete with the best players in the world and challenge yourself. Saturday is another big test.
"You have to be alert and expect the unexpected with Suarez because he's not afraid to have a go from anywhere and everywhere.
"He will have a go from distance and from different angles on the pitch too. He can score with both feet, score with his head, set up other players. He's a handful.
"But saying that, that's what makes the Premier League the very best in the world. We're excited and looking forward and we will meet it head on.
"Hopefully we can be on top of our game. If we are, we will give ourselves a chance. We have to make sure we stay switched on.
"He's human like the rest of us. So with the ability we have in our backline - if we play well, talk to each other, stay on our toes and remain alert - we can hopefully make it a long day for him.
"If we do that, we have a chance of getting ourselves a good result."
Guzan says the return of Ron Vlaar will also play a part this weekend.
Vlaar completed 90 minutes on Monday, seemingly without any issues to his injured calf, and Guzan thinks his presence will be huge for the trip to Merseyside.
He added: "Ron is a big player for us.
"He's the captain, he's a strong presence at the back and he's played at the top level domestically and internationally.
"To have him back is great. He's a big influence for us. He helps us in the backline with a bit of experience. It's good to have him back."
