Villa v Arsenal preview: Delph on need to be industry leaders

Brown

Fabian Delph believes Arsenal will win the Barclays Premier League - but he's determined to put a major spanner in the works this evening.

Delph is a big admirer of the Gunners but he's on a mission to earn three points for Villa tonight by repeating the heroics from the opening afternoon at the Emirates.

Delph says that industry and desire saw Villa through in that incredible 3-1 win in London.

And he thinks those traits will be needed once again when the two sides meet in the 8pm Sky Sports Monday Night Football encounter.

He said: "What we need to do is repeat the performance at the Emirates. It's up there in terms of one of my best moments in a Villa shirt. It was a big win. It was a great achievement.

"A lot of people doubted us. But we played really well and picked up a great win. We believed in ourselves and got the victory there.

"I remember looking up at the clock, there were 30 minutes left and they were just coming at us.

"We managed to weather that particular storm and got the win. It was happy days.

"You can have afternoons where it's your day - that was our day.

"We had a bit of luck, managed to keep some of their chances out and hit them on the break with some fabulous football going-forward.

"We then played Chelsea a few days later. We should have got something from that game too!

Delph

"I don't think Arsenal have lost many games since we beat them. They will probably want to get a bit of revenge tonight which is normal.

"They are a great side who play very good football. But, like all good teams - and this is key - they seem to have a willingness to work for each other.

"After a few weeks of the season, I said I fancied them to win the title. Nothing has changed my mind.

"There are a lot of good teams in the league competing for the title and I can't see why Arsenal can't win it.

"This season has been interesting with the number of new sides competing at the top.

"It's been between Man City and Man Utd for a while now so I think it's good that there are other teams going for the title this season.

"Arsenal are up there. Liverpool are flying. Chelsea look strong. It should be interesting.

"But we'll be right up for this one. And I just feel this would be a great game to turn the home form around.

"We will go into the match with belief. We will give it 100% - show that good level of industry again - and, as you saw at the Emirates, we have the ability to hurt teams.

"We will look for a win. We want to win every game we play. This will be absolutely no different. We have good feelings going into this match.

"From a personal perspective, I go into each game with the same mindset. I want to compete and win. That's what I will always do. It will be no different this evening.

"I feel good. I feel fit. I feel able to compete. I feel strong. I am covering good ground.

"I just want the team to push on now and start to improve. And we all want to make the fans happy."
