Villa v Arsenal: Lambert on rewarding loyal home faithful
Paul Lambert says he's desperate to make the loyal home fans happy.
Lambert accepts that Villa are finding life difficult in B6, as they have for the past few campaigns on home soil.
And the boss agrees that the form - only three wins in all competitions this term - on the hallowed turf has been below-par.
He even accepts supporters venting their frustrations after defeats at Villa Park.
But he believes the fans have the ability to drive the team on to bigger and better things.
However, he also knows his team have to give the loyal following "something to cheer about."
He said: "I don't have any problem with the crowd.
"If the team is not performing, you expect people to vent their frustration. That's normal.
"Last year we played Newcastle here and we were getting beat 2-0 in the first half and then we scored and for 40 minutes, it didn't matter what we did, the crowd was right with us. They were brilliant at that time.
"Now we're in our second year and it may be slightly different. But if they can stick with it and see us through the hard times when we need them. We certainly need them. We definitely need the crowd at home.
"The crowd have been excellent for us. And tonight they'll get right behind us.
"We're at home and we have to try and rectify the home form. That goes without saying.
"It's been happening for about five years. But I'd love to give the home fans something to shout about. We have to go and try to do it this evening. It's our home ground. We have to go and try to win.
"The players aren't anxious about playing at home. They feel good. There are no worries with them.
"Yes they make mistakes and maybe hear things but they have to be strong enough to take it."
