Villa v Arsenal: Vlaar wants repeat of best claret and blue moment
Ron Vlaar says the home win over Man City was his "best and favourite" moment in claret and blue - and he admits he wants more of the same in the coming months ahead.
Villa defeated the title-chasers 3-2 in an enthralling match in B6.
Vlaar recalls the awesome atmosphere during the game - and the "explosion of noise" on the final whistle as Paul Lambert's side recorded three valuable points.
The skipper wants more moments like that as Villa look to improve form in front of their own fans.
He said: "The win over Man City is my favourite and my best moment at Villa. I am sure there will be some others in the future too.
"They had a lot of possession and more chances. But we scored three and won the game, which was great for everyone.
"When we scored our third, I felt so sure that we would win the game.
"That feeling among the players was brilliant and the same as we celebrated with the fans.
"The explosion of noise on the final whistle was amazing. That's what we want more of, of course."
Vlaar believes consistency will be key for Villa as the season pans out - and he hopes to continue his own dependable form when he recovers from injury.
The captain missed the Sheff Utd cup tie with a recurrence of the calf injury that plagued him in the preceding weeks.
His fitness for the Gunners clash is, as yet, unclear, but he believes consistency is the watchword for him and the team.
He added: "Last year wasn't bad for me. But I felt I could do better.
"If you look at me this campaign, I have improved. I learnt a lot from last year.
"You have to learn. You have to keep adapting to the Premier League.
"Last year I had more ups and downs. Now it is steadier from me. This is important for me and the team too. As a team we want less ups and downs.
"But overall, we are doing better and it's important to look up."
