Lambert on home form: I understand fans frustrations

Brown

Paul Lambert admitted he's eager to turn around the form at Villa Park - as he insisted there's plenty to play for despite being knocked out of the FA Cup.

Villa have been superb on the road this season, beating Arsenal, Norwich, Southampton and Sunderland already.

But they have found the going tough in B6, emerging victorious only three times, against Rotherham, Man City and Cardiff.

Their latest setback was defeat on the hallowed turf to League One Sheff Utd.

Lambert reiterated his depair at going out at the third round stage and said he's determined to turn around the form of his team in front of their supporters.

He said: "They tell me the form at home goes back a few years. I can't believe it. It's strange.

"We don't set our stall out any differently away from home to at home.

"Teams might come and sit and frustrate you. The bigger ones will go out and play. But teams around and below try to frustrate. But we have to break that with some creativity.

"The home fans are obviously not seeing the away stuff. It must be as frustrating as anything for them. I understand. I am not naive. How can we win at Sunderland then turn up on Saturday and not perform? That's the frustration.

"I am gutted to lose this game. If you're in something you try to win it. If you get to a final and lose it, it's not great. If you get to a final and win it, it's the best feeling in the world. Any competition you're in, you must try and win.

"It would be great to go all the way and actually win it. I don't want to get knocked out in a third round, fourth round, quarter-final, semi-final or lose a final. You want that feeling of winning.

"I was always going to pick a strong team and it should have been good enough to go through. We're out and we have to go again next Monday.

"There's plenty to play for, that's for sure. There's no way we can rest."
