FT: Wolves U21 0-2 Villa U21 [Donacien 14; Stieber 48]

Gary Gardner makes his return to action tonight as Villa take on Wolves in the Barclays U21 Premier League.

Gardner - who was an unused sub for yesterday's top-flight defeat to Manchester United - will get some match action under his belt at Bucks Head, Telford.

The 21-year-old midfielder missed most of last season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury and has endured a frustrating start to this term too after sustaining a back problem.

But he will line up in Gordon Cowans' midfield tonight alongside Daniel Johnson and Andras Stieber.

Graham Burke, Michael Drennan and Callum Robinson also start in a three-pronged Villa attack.

The claret and blues are looking to arrest a three-match losing run in tonight's West Midlands derby.

Cowans' side suffered a 2-0 defeat at Liverpool at fortnight ago, while last month they also lost to Arsenal and were knocked out of the League Cup by Fulham.

Opponents Wolves have had a mixed start to the campaign with four wins, four defeats and a draw.

In their last outing, the Black Country side came from behind to beat Tottenham 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick from Eusebio Bancessi.

Follow our live audio and text commentary from 7pm.

VILLA: Watkins, Webb, Kinsella, Lewis, Donacien, Gardner, Stieber, Burke, Drennan, Johnson, Robinson. Subs: Bateman, Grant, O'Brien, T Strain, R Strain.
