Agbonlahor: Benteke has the strong personality to thrive
Agbonlahor says all that's needed is for the other players to keep providing chances for the giant hitman.
Villa's record Premier League hitman thinks defenders are making life difficult for the bruising striker but believes he'll be back with a bang very soon.
In fact, he's so confident in Benteke he doesn't believe the topic warrants serious discussion.
He said: "Christian is a quality player. He's a strong personality and the goals will come.
"It's down to us as a team to keep creating the chances for him. That's our job as well.
"After last season there's going to be a lot of expectation on him.
"He's still doing well in training. He's working hard so the goals will come.
"Of course, if you're a star player, people are going to try and mark you. After last season there's going to be a lot of expectation on him. But he's a quality player.
"I don't think it's a topic to discuss. He's just a great player. The key is doing other things for the team in those times. That's a big thing with Christian's game.
"Ultimately we can't just rely on Christian for goals. We have to look at the whole team to do that."
Agbonlahor is eager to get a goal himself as soon as possible.
But he thinks his role includes much more than scoring, including setting up chances for the likes of Benteke.
He added: "Of course it would be nice for me to get that first goal. But I've got four assists. As long as I try and keep making chances for others.
"I've been through it before, when I've played as a striker. You go through these spells.
"When you get shots you want to keep them on target. On another day I would have caught them better and I would have scored."
