Philosophical Agbonlahor: We'll take the point and move on
Gabby Agbonlahor spoke of his satisfaction as Villa collected a point against Sunderland despite not being at their best.
Agbonlahor accepted Villa didn't reach the necessary standard to warrant a maximum haul against the Black Cats on Saturday.
So he was happy that the team grinded out a result in an anxious encounter with Gus Poyet's men.
Agbonlahor said no-one should underestimate the importance of adding to the overall tally as each game passes.
He said: "We are frustrated. We probably didn't do enough to win the game.
"But last season we would have lost games like this.
"Now if we're not winning, we are getting a point. That's what football is all about - getting points on the table.
"You might not play as well some weeks as you do in other weeks. It's just important then to keeping adding points to your tally.
"Last season we didn't do that enough. We were playing well in some games and not getting points.
"The defence looked solid as always. They have been great this season.
"Maybe going forward we haven't been as good as we have been previously.
"A few of us have only just come back from injury after being out for several weeks. So it might take us a few games to get back into our stride."
Agbonlahor insists he's feeling stronger as his game time increases.
Now he's raring to go on Wednesday against Southampton.
He continued: "You want to get on the ball and try to attack teams. That's what I tried to do.
"The Sunderland game was about fitness for me too. I have been out for a month.
"I have got 30 minutes on Monday, 90 minutes on Saturday and now I am looking forward to Wednesday.
"Hopefully then we can put chances away."
Agbonlahor also spoke of his delight at seeing Prince William at Villa Park for the clash.
He added: "It was great to see the Prince here. It's just a shame we couldn't get the points for him."
