Thursday media watch [14.11.13 AM]: Winger blow/US ace linked
Birmingham Mail: Ashley Westwood confesses he has not hit the heights of his debut campaign so far during his second season and admits: "I need to improve." Westwood was pleased with his performance in last weekend's 2-0 win over Cardiff after being frustrated by injury and loss of form in recent months.
Birmingham Mail: Villa's forgotten man Charles N'Zogbia will be out of action until next year, with his injury proving to be more serious than first feared. It was thought N'Zogbia, who ruptured his Achilles tendon on holiday in the summer, might be able to resume training in time for the festive programme of fixtures next month.
The Sun: Paul Lambert reckons his Canaries connection can boost England. Roy Hodgson is poised to give Norwich keeper John Ruddy or former Carrow Road No 1 Fraser Forster a chance against Chile tomorrow night. And Aston Villa boss Lambert - who gave the two keepers their big breaks when in charge at Norwich - reckons both are international class.
Daily Telegraph: Charles N'Zogbia is set to be ruled out of Aston Villa's plans until next year as he continues to recover from an Achilles operation.
Daily Express: Clint Dempsey could return to England on loan from Seattle Sounders in January. Spurs have first option, but Everton, Fulham and Aston Villa are also in the hunt.
Mirror: Clint Dempsey is free to return to English football - sparking a Premier League scramble for his signature. Tottenham sold the midfielder, 30, in the summer and the White Hart Lane club have first option on bringing him back to the Premier League. But Fulham, who sold him to Spurs in 2012, Aston Villa and Everton are also in the hunt as they look for added firepower.
