Villa v Cardiff: Vlaar - We want more "amazing feelings" at home
Ron Vlaar says he is determined to help Villa turn their home form around after insisting he feels the pain of the fans every time they fail to win.
Villa have so far only recorded one win on the hallowed turf this term, although in their defence they have faced some tough opposition in the likes of Tottenham, Everton and Liverpool.
Vlaar says the players are more than aware of the need to buck up in B6 as he called for the spirit of the Man City match on Saturday.
Paul Lambert's men defeated the men from the Etihad Stadium in September in a rip-roaring game and Vlaar wants that electric feel back - for players and supporters.
He said: "We want to send the fans home happy. I think about it a lot.
"That feeling we had after the Man City win is something we want to give the fans but we also want to experience that ourselves again. It was an amazing feeling.
"It was extra special, of course, because we were behind twice, it was against one of the very top teams and it was our first home win.
"But we have to play that sort of match in every game.
"Personally, I am gutted when we lose. Football is not only my job. It is my life too.
"You feel for the fans in the stands and we feel the same. I live it and feel it like them.
"It's so much better to come in to warm down on Sunday if we win. You want that all the time. The fans are the same.
"We have to do better at home. We are determined to do better."
Vlaar is relishing the clash with Cardiff but knows it will be a very tough encounter.
He added: "They are a hard team to beat. They should have a lot of confidence after beating Swansea in the derby.
"But there's only thing for us - we need to win this game.
"It's never an easy game against a newly-promoted team. We drew against Hull away, for example.
"It's hard to spot the new teams in the league because all of the sides try their best and give their all. The differences are never that big, it always comes down to details."
