Villa in the Community: Albrighton inspired by Wilson Stuart visit

Marc Albrighton went back to school to meet students from the club's exciting Villa Vocations programme.

After the Tamworth-born winger wasn't afraid to get stuck into some classwork as he helped pupils with gardening and DIY sessions before taking a tour of the school and answering questions.

Villa Vocations is a Premier League and PFA-funded project aimed at providing insights into the working world for young adults with varying disabilities.

The club works in partnership with Wilson Stuart, an academy school catering for children with a range of disabilities and learning needs.

Sixth form students are given the chance to find out about different job roles at the club and supplement this learning with work experience opportunities.

The students also have two days of their classroom learning at Villa Park, providing a unique learning environment to stimulate progress.

Villa Vocations has helped cultivate marked improvements in the personal and educational development of the students.

In addition, the funding for the programme allows students to gain work experience in other organisations, as well as gaining qualifications.

Albrighton said: "It's a fantastic school. It's great that the club is working alongside them to give opportunities for young people with disabilities.

"I found the visit inspiring. I had a great time doing the different activities and getting involved in the lessons."
