Guzan and Clark picked in BBC Sport team of the week
Guzan was in fine form between the posts, making a penalty save and a worldie stop in the dying minutes.
Clark was a rock at the back and made clearances, blocks and tackles in abundance through an impressive defensive display.
The players were chosen by pundit Garth Crooks, who assesses performances across the Barclays Premier League.
Of Guzan, he said: "Whatever you thought of referee Chris Foy's decision to award a penalty to Norwich in their defeat by Aston Villa, the save by Brad Guzan was the turning point of the match and the catalyst to a superb performance by the keeper.
"His saves from Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Gary Hooper late in the game were enough for manager Paul Lambert to make a bee-line for his player after the match and congratulate him."
On Clark, he added: "Aston Villa's 1-0 win against Norwich marked their first clean sheet in 27 league games and in an excellent performance from Villa's back five, Ciaran Clark stood out.
"He made a number of vital defensive blocks late in the game. He didn't take one for the team, he took a few."
Unsurprisingly, three Manchester derby heroes - Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure - were chosen as well as Everton free-kick specialist Leighton Baines and goal hero Romelu Lukaku.
Also included were Chelsea scorers Oscar and John Obi-Mikel, Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne and Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil.
