Positive Lambert: I'll pick the players up this week
Paul Lambert says he will pick the players up in training this week, as he looks for a response at Norwich.
Lambert watched on as Villa went down 2-1 to Newcastle on Saturday.
Just as one good result doesn't make a season, Lambert insists one bad result doesn't break it either.
The boss has great faith in his young, emerging team and believes they will come good in the weeks ahead.
What he wants from them now at Carrow Road is a buoyant performance, after admitting his frustration at their lack of vigour in the first-half against the Magpies.
He said: "You pick yourself up and go again. It's how you come back from it - that's the important thing.
"The key is whenever you lose a game, make sure you bounce back.
"That's what we've got to do.
"We will get them in, pick them up and go again.
"You're only four games into it so there's a long, long way to go.
"You pick them up and go again against Norwich."
Lambert will have a full squad to work with - other than injury absentees Jores Okore and Gary Gardner - and he is relishing that fact, while also refusing to blame international commitments prior to the Magpies clash for the defeat.
He added: "We had a lot of them away - I think there were 10 of them.
"It was a long time not playing - three weeks. But I don't like making excuses."
