El Ahmadi: We won't let Newcastle loss damage our confidence
Karim El Ahmadi insists Villa won't allow the defeat to Newcastle damage the confidence in the camp.
El Ahmadi says it is important the squad don't let the positive vibes from their impressive early-season performances dissipate after a frustrating afternoon against Alan Pardew's side.
But the Moroccan midfielder admits the claret and blues should have gone on to seize the initiative after Christian Benteke's equaliser in Saturday's clash at Villa Park.
Instead it was the Magpies who went on to grab the points, with substitute Yoan Gouffran scoring just five minutes after Benteke.
"We are very disappointed," said El Ahmadi.
"We didn't play a good game but still we could have had a draw or maybe win the game because at 1-1 it could have gone either way. But it didn't happen so it was very disappointing.
"We didn't have our best game. At 1-1 you could go on to win but we were unlucky with the second goal of Newcastle.
"In the first three games we played good but we have to look forward now to the other games and we will play against other teams who are fighting for points.
"It is not like our confidence has gone away because we have played good games so far even though this wasn't a good one. We have to be confident."
