Bacuna: Early-season involvement has given me confidence boost
Leandro Bacuna is eager to carry on where he left off when Villa return to action this weekend after being boosted by his early-season involvement.
Bacuna has featured in three of Villa's four competitive matches since arriving from Groningen in the summer.
After coming on as a substitute in the opening day victory at Arsenal, he earned the man of the match award for his performance against Liverpool and also started in the Capital One Cup win over Rotherham.
The Dutch utility ace has been buoyed by the start to his claret and blue career and he wants to continue that upward curve against Newcastle on Saturday.
"I came here to get some minutes and to show myself and to be part of the team," he said.
"When you are a new lad you have to come in and prove yourself.
"But I think I've done a good job so far. I work hard every day and I hope I will carry on getting my chances.
"The manager sees something and it is good for you as a player when the manager recognises something.
"I will keep working hard and keep showing myself."
Bacuna has been utilised in midfield and at right-back already this season.
The 22-year-old doesn't mind switching roles as it is something he has done frequently during his career so far.
"My whole career I have played every position - I've never really had one position," he added.
"For me it is not a problem but I will see how it is going to go.
"Originally I was a midfielder but I can play right-back or further forward.
"It doesn't matter to me as long as I'm playing."
