Villa v Liverpool: Weimann - We take on Reds with heads high
Andreas Weimann says the team are ready to "go again" as they get set for Liverpool on Saturday.
Weimann was part of the heroic claret and blue side which went down 2-1 at Chelsea in controversial circumstances.
Goalscorer Branislav Ivanovic should have been red-carded before his winner while John Terry wasn't penalised for a handball in the penalty box in the dying minutes.
Despite the furore surrounding the result, Weimann was keen to point out the positives from the Blues clash.
Our fab forward insists Villa will face the challenge of Liverpool with their "heads held high" after a fine Stamford Bridge display.
He said: "It was a brilliant performance from everyone. We worked hard. We defended really well. I thought we deserved at least a point in the end.
"We had a game-plan with getting into our shape with Gabby and I dropping in and helping the midfield out.
"They didn't really get through us. It was unfortunate we didn't come away with anything.
"You saw us playing really well at the end of the previous season.
"It was a big result at Arsenal and we should have got something out of the game against Chelsea.
"We will go away with our heads held high and go again on Saturday against Liverpool.
"Everyone is down now because we should have got something from the Chelsea game.
"But we go away with loads of positives from both games.
"We won at The Emirates and going to Stamford Bridge and playing the way we did was brilliant. We will take that into the next few games.
"We have loads of confidence. Everyone is looking forward to playing at Villa Park for the first time this season."
Weimann almost rescued the point with two second-half efforts but Petr Cech made marvellous stops to keep out the Austrian ace.
He added: "The first one I hit nicely and he made a good save.
"With the second one it bounced right in front of me so I tried to keep it down and hit the target which I did.
"Unfortunately he was there again. That's why he's one of the best keepers in the world."
