Lambert told us of his delight at the courage and conviction of his team as they pressed from first minute to last minute in the capital.

He discussed all three goals and the two world-class saves of Brad Guzan in the second half.

The manager also heaped praised on Agbonlahor, calling him unbeatable and also promoting his chances of an England call-up.

Agbonlahor himself was reticent to accept too much praise, instead pointing to the team ethic.

Agbonlahor also spoke of his good fitness levels and how they have played a part in his impressive form of late.

Skipper Vlaar was smiling broadly as he faced the cameras.

He hailed the performance of every member of the squad - including the subs on the bench and those in the stands.

Vlaar said the team spirit is immense in camp and will help Villa throughout the campaign ahead.

European Cup legend Ken McNaught also joined us on AVTV to give his thought after 90 minutes of frenetic action.
