Clubcall: Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has told Premier League defenders that striker Christian Benteke will be an even more fearsome prospect. Lambert's main summer coup has been the retention of his powerful Belgian forward, who submitted a transfer request before changing his mind despite interest from so-called bigger clubs. Benteke made a huge impact last term, scoring 19 league goals and running defenders ragged with his hefty physique, technical ability and scoring touch. Lambert believes the 22-year-old will be even more dangerous this season as he prepares for the opener at Arsenal.

Sporting Life: Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has sent an ominous warning to Barclays Premier League defenders that striker Christian Benteke will be an even more fearsome proposition this season. Lambert believes the 22-year-old will be even more dangerous this season as he prepares for tomorrow's opener at Arsenal.

Sky Sports: Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has warned Premier League defenders that Christian Benteke will be even more fearsome this season. The Villa striker made a huge impact last season, giving defenders a torrid time with his physique and technical ability as he bagged 19 league goals. "Looking at him since he's come back from his break and the games he's played he's been excellent," said Lambert.

Express & Star: Darren Bent today completed his season-long loan move to Fulham. Bent, Villa's £24m record signing, had been frozen out this summer after losing his place to Christian Benteke last season. He was today reunited with Martin Jol, who signed the England international from Charlton in 2007 while manager of Tottenham. Jol said: "Darren Bent is a striker I have always admired. I'm delighted that he has joined us, he gives us pace up front and I am confident that he will add to our goals scored tally this season."

Fox Soccer: Fulham announced Friday that the club has acquired striker Darren Bent on a season-long loan deal from Aston Villa. Bent was Villa's record signing when he arrived from Sunderland in January 2011 but he fell behind Christian Benteke in the pecking order for the Villans last season. Fulham boss Martin Jol has a previous relationship with Bent as he signed the striker during managerial stint at Tottenham. "Darren Bent is a striker I have always admired," Jol said. "He has shown in the Premier League that he is composed and clinical in front of goal but, even if he is not scoring, he is involved in some good link-up play, creating opportunities for his teammates."

BT Sport: Fulham have signed Darren Bent on a season-long loan from Aston Villa and agreed a new two-year deal with Sascha Riether, the club's player of the year last season. Manager Martin Jol stole in ahead of Crystal Palace to land Bent, who was Villa's record signing when he joined from Sunderland for £18million in January 2011 but has since fallen behind Christian Benteke in the pecking order. Jol admitted last season that he missed out on the chance to recruit Belgian international Benteke and he was clearly not prepared to make the same mistake with Bent. Palace manager Ian Holloway revealed this week he thought Bent was en route to Selhurst Park when Fulham stepped in to seal the deal.

ESPN: Darren Bent has joined Fulham on a season-long loan deal from Aston Villa. The deal to bring Bent, 29, to Craven Cottage was struck after late interest in a similar agreement from Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway. The striker worked with Martin Jol at Tottenham, who brought him to White Hart Lane from Charlton Athletic, while he later hit 36 goals in 63 games in a prolific spell at Sunderland. "Darren Bent is a striker I have always admired," Jol told Fulham's official website. "He has shown in the Barclays Premier League that he is composed and clinical in front of goal but, even if he is not scoring, he is involved in some good link-up play, creating opportunities for his team-mates. "I'm delighted that he has joined us - he gives us pace up front and I am confident that he will add to our goals scored tally this season."

Clubcall: Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert expects to be without midfielder Yacouba Sylla for Saturday's opening-day trip to Arsenal. The Mali international is struggling with a twisted ankle suffered in a youth team game earlier this week and is unlikely to have overcome it in time for the trip to north London. Versatile midfielder Chris Herd (calf) is also highly unlikely to feature but Lambert has no other concerns unless any of his men return from international duty with new injuries.

Express & Star: Paul Merson today urged Villa to ignore the scare stories and upset the establishment at Arsenal. The former claret and blue and Gunners star reckons Villa can steal a result at the Emirates in tomorrow's Premier League opener. Villa's last win at Arsenal came in 2011 when two Darren Bent goals earned them a 2-1 victory. Bent is set for Fulham on a season-long loan to ease the club's wage bill and Christian Benteke will lead the line, after being linked to the Gunners in the summer. Villa go to Chelsea on Wednesday and host Liverpool next Saturday in a daunting first week after their Stamford Bridge trip was rearranged due to the Blues' Super Cup commitments. Merson admitted they face a mammoth task but must not give into any fears.

Clubcall: Blackpool have confirmed Aston Villa striker Nathan Delfouneso has re-joined the club on loan until the end of the year. The former England Under-21 international spent the majority of last season on loan at Bloomfield Road and made 40 Championship appearances, scoring six times. The Seasiders have now confirmed Delfouneso has re-joined the club on loan until January 1 and goes straight into the match-day squad for Saturday's trip to Middlesbrough. The Villa youngster becomes Blackpool's second signing in the space of 24 hours after they confirmed Ricardo Fuller had joined following his release by Stoke at the end of last season.

BBC Sport: Blackpool have signed Nathan Delfouneso on a six-month loan from Aston Villa. The 22-year-old striker spent most of last season at Bloomfield Road, scoring seven times in 40 league appearances. England U21 international Delfouneso has struggled to break into the Villa first-team since being loaned out to Burnley in March 2011. Since then he has played just seven Premier League games and also had a brief loan spell at Leicester City. He is available for the Tangerines' trip to Middlesbrough on Saturday, as they aim to make it three wins from three in the Championship.

Best of the Rest

BBC Sport: Liverpool striker Luis Suarez trained with the club's first team on Friday after talks with boss Brendan Rodgers. Suarez, 26, who has previously said he wanted to leave Anfield, returned to Merseyside on Thursday after playing in Uruguay's 4-2 win over Japan in Miyagi.

Sky Sports: Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic is confident they have the players to be successful again this season. The Premier League gets underway on Saturday with United defending the trophy - their 20th league title - which they won in May.

BBC Sport: Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says it will be difficult to control his emotions when he returns to the Stamford Bridge dugout for Sunday's Premier League opener against Hull City. Mourinho rejoined the club for a second stint in charge in June after leaving by mutual consent in September 2007.
