Helenius: I can't wait to play in front of the "crazy" Holte End
Nicklas Helenius can't wait to see the Holte End "going crazy" - after hearing former fan favourite Kent Nielsen's glowing praise of the claret and blue faithful.
Helenius is well versed in the history of Villa thanks to conversations with his old Aalborg boss Nielsen, who played at Villa Park between 1989 and 1991.
The 22-year-old striker also took a tour of his new home stadium on the day he signed from the Danish Superliga outfit.
Now Helenius can't wait for his first taste of match action in B6.
"Kent told me that the people in the Holte End go crazy and it is very noisy from there," said the Denmark international.
"That is what you want. You want to show how good you are for so many people.
"The stadium is much bigger than any in Denmark.
"I think the biggest stadium in Denmark is around 36,000 and that is the national stadium in Copenhagen.
"My former stadium where I played was only 13,000. This stadium is a lot bigger.
"It is fantastic and it is a dream to play in front of crowds like that. You can feel it from the start."
Helenius has kept in close contact with Nielsen since leaving Aalborg, with the ex-Villa defender offering his former charge plenty of encouragement.
"I have spoken to him three times since I left about the matches, how I'm getting on and how my former team are doing back home," added Helenius.
"They beat last season's champions Copenhagen in their opening match which is good.
"I asked Kent about the club and the history here and all that stuff.
"He said it was a good club - one of the biggest in England - and that it is a good chance for me because it is a young team with lots of good young players.
"He said it was a good chance for me but it will be tough because of the tempo in the Premier League. That is just something I will learn to get used to."
