Guzan: Lambert has created unbelievable environment
Brad Guzan has lauded Paul Lambert for creating an unbelievable environment for his players to flourish in.
Guzan believes the spirit in camp is second-to-none and insists that atmosphere is down to boss Lambert.
He also says the manager has been cultivating an ethos where only the highest standards are accepted in training as he aims to build a team worthy of putting on the claret and blue.
Part of that body of work has been the acquisition of six new players - Leandro Bacuna, Jores Okore, Antonio Luna, Jed Steer, Aleksandar Tonev and Nicklas Helenius.
Guzan insists they already know the standards required and certainly fit the mould of young, aspiring, hungry players needed to succeed at Villa.
He said: "You can see from the outside looking in that there have been some changes in terms of personnel.
"The most important part of the process is that the manager is bringing in players who are hungry and eager to learn.
"They want to do well and help the team, that's important.
"You have to bring in players who are committed to the cause.
"You go to battle at a weekend and whether it's the first XI, the lads on the bench or those not even in the squad, everyone here is pulling for each other and there's no bitterness about someone playing in front of you.
"It's about saying 'he was selected this week and I am going to work hard this week in training and hopefully get into the team.'
"When you create that environment, which the manager is doing, good things will undoubtedly happen.
"You always need competition. That's to push each other and help the team be successful. You need that competitive spirit. When you do that, it makes everyone better.
"I was excited like the fans when I saw the newboys were coming in.
"You know that the manager has done his homework. You know they will be good players and good characters.
"They will only add to what we started to build last season. You can't stand still. You have to be moving forward. That's the way football is."
