Sky Sports: Ashley Westwood is relishing the chance to impress in front of the Aston Villa faithful after scoring his first goal for the club. The 23-year-old midfielder netted for Paul Lambert's men in their 2-2 friendly draw against Wycombe on Saturday. And Westwood, who impressed during a difficult 2012-13 campaign for the Midlands club, admits it would be extremely special to increase his tally in front of the raucous Holte End.

Express & Star: Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert today claimed star striker Christian Benteke won't have a problem winning back the club's supporters. The Belgium international is waiting to return to playing after his astonishing transfer U-turn having returned to pre-season training last week. He was given 10 extra days leave and had a transfer request lodged when he came back on Thursday but, on Friday, signed a new double-your-money four-year contract.

Clubcall: Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is keen to move on following Christian Benteke's decision to sign a new deal at Villa Park. Benteke had seemed set to depart earlier in the summer but has since performed a U-turn by signing an improved four-year deal, worth a reported £56,000-a-week. Lambert now hopes to move on after the 22-year-old Belgian withdrew a transfer request and has called on the fans to show the striker their support.

Express & Star: Aston Villa have added another two to their injured list after strikers Andreas Weimann and Jordan Bowery were hurt in Saturday's friendly at Wycombe. Weimann left in the first-half of the 2-2 draw nursing his ribs after he tumbled over the outstretched leg of Wycombe defender Charles Dunne, while Bowery's exit near the end left Villa with 10 men. Weimann re-appeared in the dugout after the break but was in pain with Villa boss Paul Lambert revealing the forward hurt his back and hip, which will sideline him for "the next few weeks or so." Bowery was also sporting his back when he trudged off, while full-back Joe Bennett missed the game after picking up a knock to his calf in training on Friday.

Clubcall: Aston Villa striker Andreas Weimann has suffered a hip injury in pre-season and faces around two weeks on the sidelines. Weimann suffered the blow during the first half of Villa's 2-2 friendly with Wycombe on Saturday. Boss Paul Lambert admits he is unsure as to how long Weimann would be out of action for but remains hopeful it is not too serious, although the injury could potentially put him in doubt for Villa's opening Premier League fixture at Arsenal on August 17.

Best of the Rest

BBC Sport: Manchester United have made a second bid for Barcelona and Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas. United confirmed a £25m offer for the 26-year-old last Monday and have increased that to £30m plus add-ons, with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward leading negotiations.

Sky Sports: Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Luis Suarez is in 'great spirits' after arriving in Australia and has reiterated there is nothing to consider about the striker's Liverpool future until an offer that meets the club's valuation is made.

BBC Sport: West Ham co-owner David Sullivan says signing another striker is his top transfer priority this summer. The Hammers spent a club record £15m on Andy Carroll last month but still want to boost their attacking options.
