Express and Star: Villa will hit Christian Benteke with a fine if he dodges his return to pre-season training tomorrow. The transfer-seeking Belgian striker is due back after being given extra holiday time by Villa because of his international commitments after the close of the Premier League campaign.

ClubCall: Aston Villa striker Darren Bent is expected to complete a move to Premier League rivals Newcastle United in the coming days. Bent has been frozen out at Villa Park under boss Paul Lambert and is set to depart this summer.

ClubCall: Spurs remain the clear favourites to land Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke but a deal remains some way off. Chelsea were thought to be rivals for the Belgium international this summer but their interest in Manchester United star Wayne Rooney appears to signal they no longer view Benteke as a viable transfer option.

ESPN: Wantaway striker Christian Benteke will be fined by Aston Villa if he fails to report back to the club's training ground on Thursday, according to the Birmingham Mail. Benteke, 22, has agreed to return to Bodymoor Heath this week, having been given 12 days extra time off after handing in a transfer request earlier this month.

Best Of The Rest

BBC Sport: Jose Mourinho says Wayne Rooney is Chelsea's only summer transfer target after Manchester United rejected their bid for the England striker.

Sky Sports: Jack Wilshere claims Arsenal players are excited by the prospect of big-name signings and need to aim high this season.

BBC Sport: Papiss Cisse has pulled out of Newcastle's pre-season tour to Portugal after refusing to wear club sponsor Wonga's logo on religious grounds.
