BBC Sport: Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has brought in Scott Marshall as coach as he bolsters his backroom staff. Lambert has appointed a new strength and conditioning coach, Michael Watts, and Chris Lorkin as his assistant. They will work under Lambert, assistant manager Ian Culverhouse and head of football operations Gary Karsa. Marshall, who spent 10 years on Arsenal's books, first linked up with Lambert when he began his coaching career at Wycombe Wanderers. Watts and Lorkin are also known to Lambert from his days with Norwich City.

Birmingham Mail Online: Paul Lambert has bolstered his Villa backroom team in time for pre-season training next week by appointing three new faces to coaching roles. Scott Marshall has been recruited as first team coach, while Michael Watts is the new strength and conditioning coach and will be assisted by Chris Lorkin. Lambert knows Marshall from their time together at Wycombe, where Marshall was a member of the academy coaching staff and the pair also worked together at Norwich. Marshall was previously a player at Arsenal, Celtic and Sheffield United and has also coached at Brentford, Chelsea, QPR and the Arsenal Soccer School in Oman. Watts and Lorkin also worked under Lambert at Carrow Road.

Express & Star: Former Aston Villa captain Gareth Southgate reckons the club's youth policy can be the blueprint for Premier League success. The ex-claret and blues skipper believes Paul Lambert is right to put his faith in young talent without mega-bucks to spend. Lambert guided Villa to Premier League survival last season with an inexperienced squad and the boss has targeted bargains buys this summer. He has signed five players including Jores Okore, 20, and 22-year-old Nicklas Helenius, and Southgate believes Villa can be an example for others.

Clubcall: Aston Villa have been linked with a move for QPR's want-away midfielder Stephane Mbia but a deal looks unlikely at this stage. West Ham have also been credited with an interest in the 27-year-old ex-Marseille man.

Goal.com: Hull City have signed centre-back Curtis Davies from Birmingham on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee. The 28-year-old completed a medical on Tuesday morning after the newly promoted club agreed a deal with the Championship outfit. Davies expressed his excitement at returning to the Premier League following a two-year absence upon joining the Tigers, and is keen to start pre-season preparations when he joins up with his team-mates in July.

Best of the Rest

BBC Sport: Chelsea have signed Germany international forward Andre Schurrle from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of £18m. Schurrle, who becomes manager Jose Mourinho's first signing since returning to the club, has signed a five-year deal.

Sky Sports: AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani claims the Italian outfit have no plans to make a move for Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez. Galliani had hinted in the past that the Argentine frontman would be of interest to the Rossoneri.

BBC Sport: Carlo Ancelotti has taken over as Real Madrid manager, with Laurent Blanc replacing the Italian as coach of Paris St-Germain. Ancelotti, 54, led PSG to the French title last season but asked to leave the club in May after Real made an approach for him. He has signed a three-year deal in Spain to replace Jose Mourinho, who left to become Chelsea boss. Blanc, 47, has agreed a two-year contract at the Parc des Princes.
