Express and Star: Aston Villa were today closing in on the £2million signing of beanpole striker Nicklas Helenius from Aalborg. The club have revealed they are close to a deal for the 22-year-old Dane and expect to complete the transfer by the end of next week.

Express and Star: Villa today unveiled their new home and away shirts for the 2013-14 season after taking inspiration from the European Cup heroes. The home strip closely resembles the shirt worn in the European Cup-winning season of 1981-82 when Villa beat Bayern Munich 1-0.

Shields Gazette: Aston Villa's out-of-favour striker Darren Bent has been linked with a summer move to Newcastle United. The 29-year-old doesn't feature in Paul Lambert's plans at Villa Park.

ClubCall: Nicklas Helenius has stated his desire to leave AaB Aalborg as Aston Villa close in on signing the Danish international striker. Some reports in Denmark claim that the two clubs have agreed a fee for the 22-year-old forward which could be as little as £2million because he is out of contract in 12 months' time.

ITV Sport: Aston Villa's out-of-favour striker Darren Bent could be returning to the North East - with Newcastle United reportedly showing an interest. Newspaper reports have suggested the Magpies are planning a £6 million move for the former Sunderland forward, who spent most of last season as a substitute at Villa Park.

ClubCall: Aston Villa have agreed a £4million fee with Danish club Nordsjaelland for defender Jores Okore who is travelling over for a medical. Villa have swooped for the 20-year-old centre-back, who appears to have been recommended to the club by former skipper Martin Laursen.

Sky Sports: Nicklas Helenius has stated his desire to leave Danish club AaB, amidst reports that Aston Villa have agreed a fee for the striker. Helenius, who has two caps for his country, scored 16 goals in 33 league games last season after netting 14 times in 2011/12.
