Lambert: Impressive Sylla has already made big impact
Paul Lambert has spoken of his delight at the impact of midfield marauder Yacouba Sylla.
Sylla has made an impressive start to his claret and blue career since his January move from French Division Two side Clermont Foot, dominating in the centre alongside Ashley Westwood and Fabian Delph.
Lambert has been happy with his application on and off the pitch.
Sylla has settled quickly at the club, adapted quickly to the pace and physicality of the Barclays Premier League as well as making great strides in learning English, a language he could barely speak a word of when he arrived.
Speaking after the Chelsea game - perhaps Sylla's best performance to date - Lambert discussed the midfielder as well as his central pals.
He said: "They were great. They are young lads but they were dominant against Chelsea, all three of them. It augurs well for the future.
"Considering where Yacu has come from and the way he's stepped up and performed, it's been great.
"He's a credit to himself.
"Every day he's learning more English, which is great. But his general performances have been very good.
"We needed to try and do something in January. We needed a wee bit of steel in there probably.
"We managed to get him, he was unknown that sort of thing.
"He's tried to get a grip of the language which is important.
"But Yacu has been excellent. Every time I have asked him to perform he's done it.
"He's only a kid aswell, he's learning, but everything bodes well for the future.
"His performance, along with Westwood and Delph in the middle of the pitch, was excellent.
"He's certainly made an impact since he had his first full game at Reading. He was excellent that day aswell.
"Everyone can see how good a player he is and, if he keeps progressing, how good a player he can become."
