Villa U18 6-1 Man City U18: Young guns crush City

Villa kept their chances of finishing top of the group alive with a stunning victory over Manchester City.

The boys in claret and blue hit City for six in a one-sided encounter at Bodymoor Heath.

Jerell Sellars scored a hat-trick, while Jack Grealish, Khalid Abdo and Brad Lewis all got on the scoresheet.

The scoreline could have been greater but for two penalty saves from Man City keeper Angus Gunn.

Seko Fofana pulled one back for the away side in the second half.

It means Villa could finish top and qualify for the end-of-season play-offs if they win their final game at Norwich on Thursday.

However, the Canaries - who are still contenders for first place - have three games still to play because of their FA Youth Cup commitments.

VILLA: Watkins, Webb, Kinsella, Cowans, Lewis, Toner (Wildin), Abdo, Lyden, Sellars, Grealish (O'Brien), Calder (Hepburn-Murphy). Unused subs: Grant.
