Lambert hailed a "fantastic" display from his team against an in-form Sunderland outfit.

The Villa boss paid tribute to Lowton, who was a standout performer, and hat-trick hero Christian Benteke.

On a night which saw a couple of club records tumble, Lambert said Benteke and Agbonlahor fully deserved the accolades that came their way.

Benteke became the first Villa player since Juan Pablo Angel to score 20 goals in a season, while Agbonlahor is now Villa's record Premier League goalscorer after surpassing Dwight Yorke's previous landmark of 60.

Lowton faced the cameras to discuss the triumph.

The full-back talked about his role in the second goal, which saw him intercept at Sunderland attack before picking out Andreas Weimann with a cross-field pass.

He also lauded team-mate Benteke for his awesome finishing display.
