Man Utd v Villa: Lambert - No worries with Delph confidence
Paul Lambert says he has no worries whatsoever with the confidence of Fabian Delph heading into the big game with Man Utd.
Delph played fantastically well - as he has done over the past few weeks - in the draw at Fulham but unfortunately blotted his copybook with an own-goal.
Lambert insists, though, that he has no issues with the dynamic midfielder's mindset after the mistake as he gets set to face the champions-elect at Old Trafford.
Lambert said: "I spoke to him after the game. I had a word with him. He's been totally fine.
"You can't live in the past. You have to let it go.
"If you start thinking negatively, you won't move on.
"You have to be able to move on from it. He has been fine. No worries.
"He coped with every set-piece except that one. It was a bit of bad luck for Fabian.
"The lad has tried to do the right thing. It's not as if he has tried to put it in his own net, he's made an honest mistake.
"Fabian's performance against Fulham overall was very, very good."
Lambert has impressed with the form of Delph as he has dominated the central midfield ground in tandem with Ashley Westwood.
The boss is happy with the duo and believes the presence of Karim El Ahmadi and Yacouba Sylla has pushed them to new heights of performance.
He added: "They are playing well, very well indeed, the two of them.
"There are other lads trying to get in their position. That's probably keeping them in the form they are in.
"But they are playing very well at this moment in time."
