Villa Ladies 3-0 Barnet Ladies: Davies at the double in victory
Carly Davies scored twice, while Erin Vaughan also got her name on the scoresheet as Joe Hunt's team cruised to victory.
Villa, who welcomed back captain Dani Petrovic from suspension, took the lead on 10 minutes after dominating the opening exchanges.
Skipper Petrovic stepped out of defence to hit a raking pass over the Barnet back four to release Davies.
The experienced forward found herself one-on-one with the keeper and easily tucked away her ninth goal of the season.
The dominance continued throughout the first half with good opportunities through Davies, Vaughan, Emma Follis and Bethan Merrick.
But the claret and blues had to be patient before bagging their second, which arrived on 60 minutes.
A late tackle from the Barnet full-back gave the hosts a free-kick to the right hand side of the penalty area.
Chloe Jones delivered a pinpoint ball with her left foot and Vaughan despatched a bullet header into the corner of the net.
Victory was sealed in the 85th minute when substitute Kelly Clarke went on a mazy run before crossing from the left for Davies to steer a header past the keeper.
"It was a good solid performance from the ladies," said coach Hunt.
"The three goals were all taken well and defensively we were never troubled.
"It was nice to have Dani Petrovic back this week. She brings experience and calmness to our play which is vital.
"As a team we pressed well, we never let Barnet settle in possession and were relentless with our attacking.
"Carly Davies scored two nice goals, taking her tally to 10 for the season.
"Erin scored a great header as well - about time too!
"Erin should score more goals than she does. Technically she is very good so it was surprising it was a header she scored.
"You'd expect Erin to score goals like Matt Lowton's against Stoke at the weekend!"
VILLA: Courtney, Vaughan, Cooper, Merritt, Petrovic (Lowe 80), Richards, Follis (Fergusson 65), Moran, Davies, Jones, Merrick (Clarke 60). Subs not used Gibson, Crackle.
