Stoke 1-3 Villa fan pictures: Supporters go wild for late win

Paul Lambert called them unbelievable.

Matt Lowton said they were incredible and made the game feel like a home match.

Brad Guzan hailed them as fantastic while Andi Weimann called them unreal.

Yes, the claret and blue faithful at the Britannia Stadium once again shone like the mid-afternoon sun.

The supporters sang loud and proud throughout a tense, thrilling encounter against the Potters.

They cheered Gabby Agbonlahor's opener and gasped as Andi Weimann hit the post and Jordan Bowery had a shot saved by Asmir Begovic.

They had their heads in their hands as Michael Kightly struck late to give Stoke what seemed at the time a valuable point they didn't deserve.

But they continued urging on the players and they got their reward with a rasping effort from Matt Lowton, which will go down in away-day folklore.

But the party had only just begun as Christian Benteke put a seal on the maximum haul with a finish of exquisite skill.

The noise the supporters made throughout the game was only eclipsed by the roar that bellowed out of the away end on the final whistle.

Villa beat Stoke thanks to quality football but the impact of the fan fervour should not be underestimated.
