Villa U19 2-0 Chelsea U19: Match-winner Burke on "proudest moment"

Graham Burke described firing Villa to NextGen Series glory as "the proudest moment of my life."

Burke - who finished as the joint top NextGen goalscorer along with Chelsea's Islam Feruz - held his nerve to convert two crucial penalties in Monday's final.

The Dublin-born striker put Villa ahead just after the break before stepping up a second time to rubber-stamp the victory with the last kick of the game.

"It is the best feeling ever," said Burke.

"What an achievement for us to come out here and win the tournament.

"I actually can't describe what it means to win the NextGen, a European championship."

Burke admitted there were a few nerves when he stepped up to face Chelsea keeper Mitchell Beeney for the first penalty.

His second spot kick came seconds before the final whistle and sparked jubilant celebrations amongst the Villa players.

"I was a bit shaky but I looked at the keeper and saw him move," he said.

"To be fair I was going to go the way he went until I saw him move.

"With the second one, the referee said 'once you've taken it, it is finished' so I just went and hit it.

"The last kick of the game to finish with a goal - I don't know what to say. It is the proudest moment of my life."
