Villa 3-2 QPR: Awestruck Lambert - The stadium was really rocking
Paul Lambert paid tribute to the vociferous Villa fans after the huge win over QPR, insisting: "The place was really rocking."
Lambert has been impressed all season with the noise levels coming from all four corners of the stadium.
But he was awestruck in this crunch clash, as the supporters drove the team on to victory.
Even after going one-down in the first half, the home faithful stayed with the team and pushed them on to three points, with the cacophony of sound on the final whistle incredible.
Lambert said: "The noise was deafening. The place was rocking. It just shows you the potential that is here.
"I have had nothing but praise for the crowd since I have been at the football club.
"They have been right behind us when we've been beaten pretty heavily. They have still come in their numbers to watch us.
"It's big thanks from me to the crowd, that's for sure.
"The atmosphere in the stadium for this one was electric.
"The noise levels from our fans were unbelievable. It just shows what's at this football club."
While his players milked the applause from the stands on the final whistle, Lambert admits his emotion was very different to one of elation.
He added: "Your heart misses a beat at times. But it's more relief when you win a game of football. The relief is there.
"It's nerve-wracking. But you trust the players to go and perform the way they can and go and do it. I thought they were exceptional."
