Villa v QPR: Lambert - Sylla adapting brilliantly to top-flight life
Sylla played brilliantly at Reading, breaking up play at every opportunity before showing an ample range of passing qualities too.
Lambert was suitably impressed and believes the former French Division 2 player has settled in really well since his move from Clermont Foot.
He said: "I thought Yacouba was exceptional in the Reading game.
"He came into a game where everything was riding on it, there was pressure and he handled the mental and physical side of the Premier League.
"I think throwing him into that magnitude of game, he did great.
"He showed a great temperament and great composure too.
"He has got great enthusiasm and for someone who's only just come here, he handled it really well."
But Lambert was impressed with a host of players at the Madejski Stadium and thinks those performances will stand the team in good stead ahead of Rangers.
He added: "I thought some of the football was excellent.
"I thought Ashley Westwood was starting to control the game, Christian Benteke - after the two games he had against City and Arsenal - was back to his best.
"I thought Barry Bannan did well coming in after a long time out and Yacouba, as I said previously, was outstanding.
"Andi Weimann is flying. He's playing on the top of his game at the minute. He's got energy to burn and his enthusiasm for the game is absolutely fantastic.
"If you look at the age of the team, it bodes well for the future, it really does."
