Friday media watch [15.03.13 AM]: N'Zogbia eyes QPR recall

Birmingham Mail: Charles N'Zogbia is targeting a recall for tomorrow's survival showdown after revealing clear lines of communication with manager Paul Lambert help him cope with being dropped. N'Zogbia was left out of the starting line-up for last weekend's vital victory at struggling Reading and is determined to return when Villa take on bottom club QPR at Villa Park.

Birmingham Mail: Yacouba Sylla was a late developer but is determined to grow into Premier League football following his full debut. Sylla, a surprise transfer-window signing from French Second Division club Clermont Foot, was handed his first Villa start for the victory at Reading and responded with an encouraging performance in central midfield.

Birmingham Mail: First-choice frontman Christian Benteke's prolific goalscoring form has "quelled the noises" about Darren Bent's backseat role at Villa. That is the verdict of former claret and blue defender Ugo Ehiogu, who has been extremely impressed by the Belgian international's impact in his first season at the club.

Birmingham Mail: Darren Bent's fitness will be assessed ahead of tomorrow's crunch clash against QPR after the record signing stepped up his recovery from injury. Bent has not played since hurting his foot on the eve of the defeat at Arsenal earlier this month and he remains doubtful for the match against the Hoops.

Birmingham Mail: The former chairman of Aston Villa FC was among business people at a ball which raised more than £12,000 for a children's charity. The NSPCC Birmingham Business Group hosted the black tie event at Villa Park in aid of ChildLine. Special guest Sir Doug Ellis was thanked by the NSPCC for his dedicated fundraising efforts over the years which have totalled £1,366,000.

Best Of The Rest

Mirror: Papiss Cisse was labelled Newcastle's "lethal weapon" after netting a dramatic injury time winner as Newcastle clinched a last gasp spot in the last 8.

BBC Sport: Fernando Torres scored only his second goal in 20 games to send Chelsea into the Europa League quarter-finals.

The Sun: Phil Parkinson tops the Reading wish list to replace sacked manager Brian McDermott.

Daily Mail: Wojciech Szczesny is set to clash with manager Arsene Wenger over manager's plans to sign a new goalkeeper.
