Wednesday media watch [20.02.13 AM]: Benteke in focus

Sky Sports: Gabriel Agbonlahor believes many of Aston Villa's Premier League rivals are casting envious looks at in-form striker Christian Benteke. Benteke joined from Genk in a £7m deal in the summer and his form has been one of the positives of a gloomy season with the striker netting fifteen goals, including six in his last five appearances. Agbonlahor has been impressed with how quickly Benteke found his feet in the Premier League and expects him to get even better.

Birmingham Mail: Gabby Agbonlahor reckons Christian Benteke is good enough to play for the very best teams in the world - but hopes he stays at Villa beyond this season. The in-form Belgian has been a revelation since joining in the summer and has attracted plenty of admirers after scoring fifteen goals already. Arsenal and Tottenham have both watched him in action and are believed to be considering bids in the summer but Agbonlahor says Benteke can play at an even higher level on his current form.

Sporting Life: Gabriel Agbonlahor believes it is inevitable fellow Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke will be a target for leading clubs after his fine form this season. Benteke has scored fifteen goals for the Midlands club since his £7m summer move from Genk. Villa boss Paul Lambert insists Benteke has already at least doubled in value and he has already been linked with possible summer moves to London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham. Agbonlahor feels 22-year-old Benteke could play on an even higher stage, although he hopes the Belgian international will remain at Villa beyond this season.

Goal.com: Gabby Agbonlahor has hailed Aston Villa's top goalscorer Christian Benteke as "one of the best" players he has ever played with. The 22-year-old has been a big hit for the Midlands club this season, scoring fifteen goals in his twenty eight appearances for the relegation-threatened side since joining from Genk in a £7m deal. Agbonlahor has featured in nineteen games this season, scoring just five goals, but is happy to play second fiddle to the Belgium international as the club look to avoid the drop.

Birmingham Mail: Brad Guzan has been swatting up on Simon Dawkins to find out more about Villa's latest recruit. The attacker resurrected his injury-hit career in Major League Soccer after moving on loan from Tottenham in 2011. When Villa signed him on loan his name was not too familiar with supporters but Guzan, who has plenty of pals still playing in the United States, reckons he is ready to make an impact given the glowing reports he's received.

Sky Sports: Ashley Westwood has praised the contribution of Aston Villa team-mate Charles N'Zogbia. Villa are hoping for a rise up the table in the coming weeks, currently sitting 17th with fixtures against Arsenal, both Manchester sides and Chelsea still to come. And Westwood says the impact of N'Zogbia and his attacking flair has been vital for Paul Lambert's men.
