Wednesday media watch [13.02.13 PM]: Boss backs break

Express and Star: Goalkeeper Brad Guzan today insisted 10 days of cold hard graft at Bodymoor Heath will be more beneficial to Aston Villa's players than warm weather training. A number of teams not involved in the FA Cup this weekend have taken the opportunity jet off to sunnier climes for a mini break.

Express and Star: Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar today claimed tough-tackling midfielder Yacouba Sylla will add some much-needed brawn as he targeted a defensive improvement. Sylla, 23, joined the claret and blues for £1.75m on transfer deadline day from French second division side Clermont and has been eased in gently by Villa boss Paul Lambert with two appearances from the bench so far.

Setanta Sports: Paul Lambert hopes the break in action will give his Aston Villa squad time to rest and recover from any knocks they have ahead of a crucial few months for the club. A 2-1 victory over West Ham on Sunday helped Villa move out of the bottom three of the Premier League, but they still have a battle on their hands as they try to look to avoid relegation.

ESPN: Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has welcomed a two-week break from Premier League action and believes it will give his side the chance to recharge the batteries for their fight against relegation. Villa moved out of the bottom three in the Premier League with last Sunday's victory over West Ham United - but any chance to build momentum will have to wait until they visit Arsenal on February 23.

ClubCall: Paul Lambert feels Aston Villa's two-week break from action will give the players a boost in their bid for Premier League survival. The Villa boss watched his side jump out of the bottom three relegation places thanks to Sunday's 2-1 win against West Ham at Villa Park.

ClubCall: Aston Villa keeper Brad Guzan insists the squad will continue to work hard in training despite enjoying a brief break from action. Villa's next fixture is a trip to Arsenal on February 23 but Guzan insists there will be no time to relax during their weekend off.
