Villa v West Ham: Lambert - Benteke is already a cult hero here
Benteke joined Villa from Genk as a relative unknown but he's thrust himself on the national consciousness with fourteen goals in all competitions, including ten in the league.
Lambert has been thrilled with his impact in claret and blue - on and off the pitch.
He says Benteke is a bruiser when playing and a gentle giant when not.
And the boss thinks the striker can be "anything he wants to be" in the future.
He said: "When the guy came in people were saying to me 'who is he and why are you going for someone from Genk?'
"With what he's done, I think he's a cult hero.
"He's only 22 and he's got years and years ahead of him.
"He's not at his peak. But what he's done for me and for the club is fantastic.
"We have given him the opportunity to show what he can do and I think he is loving his football at the moment.
"He's a cracking big guy and really humble. If he keeps that he could be anything he wants to be."
