Everton v Villa team news: El Ahmadi returns but Delph doubtful
El Ahmadi arrived back from the tournament in South Africa this week after his Morocco side suffered an early exit with three draws in the group stage.
It means the 28-year-old former Feyenoord star is ready to return and boost Villa's battle for Barclays Premier League survival.
However, El Ahmadi's midfield colleague Fabian Delph remains a doubt with an ankle injury.
Andreas Weimann, who was restricted to a substitute's appearance in the defeat by Newcastle, had been struggling with a virus but has now fully recovered.
Ashley Westwood also suffered a knock to the ankle against Newcastle but will be fit for the trip to Goodison Park.
"We need to look at Fabian and see how he is," said Lambert.
"Karim is back so the situation is not too bad.
"Andi has fully recovered. He has great enthusiasm.
"He's got great hunger. The way he plays is a big compliment."
However, the injury frustration continues for Richard Dunne, who has suffered a setback in his recovery from a long-term groin problem.
"It's come from the same area," the Villa boss added.
"It must be frustrating for Richard more than anyone.
"I think it's a culmination of things that have got wrong."
