Paul Lambert and Gabby Agbonlahor were on hand to speak to AVTV after Villa slipped to a frustrating defeat against Newcastle.

After falling behind to first-half goals from Papiss Cisse and Yohan Cabaye, the boys in claret and blue were resurgent in the second period and hit back through a Christian Benteke penalty.

But, despite their best efforts, Villa couldn't force an equaliser and finished up on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline.

Lambert insisted his side should have claimed a share of the spoils after a fine second-half showing.

The Villa boss praised the impact of substitutes Andreas Weimann and Gabby Agbonlahor.

He vowed to keep on fighting as his team strive to reverse their current form.

Agbonlahor was left frustrated after Villa threw everything at Newcastle late in the game but couldn't force an equaliser.

The striker said his team need to build on the positives from their second half performance as they battle to move away from the lower reaches of the Barclays Premier League.
