Heartbroken Vlaar: Our disappointment is so, so big

Ron Vlaar could barely find the words to sum up his mood as discussed the semi-final exit to Bradford City.

Vlaar was visibly shaken following the failure of the team to see off the League Two side in the last four stage.

Villa's captain said the disappointment was "so big" and admitted he was gutted it was his man - James Hanson - who ghosted in to score the vital equalising goal at an important stage in the game.

He said: "What can I say? I am really disappointed. I don't know what to say. It feels really bad.

"It's my man so it's my responsibility. I should have done better. But I didn't.

"It was a bad moment for everybody. It killed the game actually.

"In the first-half we played really well with a good speed. We scored a good goal and we should have scored a second before half-time.

"After half-time the speed of the game was going down more and more. Out of nothing they scored. It was going to be very difficult [after that]. The second goal from us was a little too late.

"The supporters were brilliant. The atmosphere was really great. I can't remember this before in my time with Villa. It gave such a good feeling.

"I understand everyone is disappointed and upset. That's their right. We are also disappointed.

"I think whatever you say is too much because this was a very good chance for us. But we didn't do it.

"When we think back about what happened, that's really not a very good feeling.

"We have Millwall in the FA Cup on Friday. But I just cannot think of that right now. The disappointment is so big."
