Villa v Bradford: Lambert urges players to seize cup opportunity
Paul Lambert has urged his players to seize their big opportunity against Bradford tonight, insisting: "Chances like this don't come around very often."
Villa are 90 minutes away from a Wembley final but first they must overturn a 3-1 deficit in what promises to be a gripping Capital One Cup semi-final second leg.
Lambert wants his young side to leave the Villa Park pitch with no regrets at the end of this evening's encounter.
"The thing is you might never get there again," said the manager.
"In football you just don't know what's round the corner.
"You have to grab this chance because you just don't know when this could happen again.
"The best players make sure that they grab it.
"In football you can't have any regrets because you'll look back over your career and say 'I should have' and 'only if'.
"The ones who actually succeed are the ones who do it."
Lambert believes the defeat at Valley Parade a fortnight ago will give Villa extra motivation.
He admits his players were at their lowest ebb after the 3-1 first leg loss to the League Two side.
"Chelsea was really low obviously because of the beating," added Lambert.
"But I think because of what happened and who we were playing - and that's no disrespect to Bradford - that was really, really low.
"They know they're hurt by it and they know they've got the chance to rectify it and get through. It could be a fantastic night."
