Clark: Our luck will turn if we keep showing fighting spirit
Ciaran Clark believes Villa's luck will turn if they keep showing fighting spirit.
Clark was left gutted in the dressing room on the final whistle after the Saints loss.
His hurt was two-fold - the poor penalty decision and the lack of luck in front of goal.
But he thinks Villa will reap the rewards in the next few weeks if they continue showing high levels of commitment to the cause.
He said: "It's always tough to lose a game but especially so with the fight and commitment we showed.
"We had chances, particularly in the second half so it was hard to take.
"We will pick ourselves up and carry on into the next game. We will give everything again and hopefully we will get the luck next game.
"There was disappointment and frustration in the dressing room that we haven't been able to score a goal.
"Everyone is gutted about their goal too. We have seen the replays. There was no contact. We all feel hard done by. Hopefully in the next few games we can turn it around and the luck will be with us.
"We showed we are capable of creating chances. On another day we would scored a few goals. If the luck was with us, we would have been able to get something out of the game.
"Lots of the lads had chances. Gabby went through, Christian had a few, all of us did really. Nathan was so unlucky in the last minute not to get the equaliser but on another day all of them would fly in.
"I could have been three or four. It was just disappointing how we conceded our goal. It's clearly not a penalty.
"We are doing the right things because we are creating chances. I'd be more concerned if we were getting beaten and we weren't creating anything and thinking 'how are we going to get a goal?'
"But we are creating chances and I think it will turn. Once that first one goes in? There will be a game where we score three or four goals."
