Lambert discussed the big talking point of the afternoon - the controversial decision to award the Saints a penalty after Enda Stevens was adjudged to have fouled Jay Rodriguez.

The Villa boss assessed his side's efforts, insisting they couldn't have given any more after the break when opposing goalkeeper Artur Boruc made a string of saves.

He said his team will continue to fight on because there is still a long way to go in the campaign.

Clark was left ruing Villa's lack of luck in the Saints clash.

The defender also gave his view on the penalty decision and assessed the team's overall performance.
