Swansea 2-2 Villa: Guzan - We showed great character
Brad Guzan was happy with the character on show by Villa as they earned a creditable draw at Swansea.
The giant goalkeeper thinks the point on the road will do the team the world of good.
He said: "We knew it was going to be a difficult game. To come to a place like this and a team like Swansea who pass the ball and move the ball so well, we knew it would be tough.
"We did not have a particularly good start to the game but at the same time the resilience of the team to fight back, stay in the game and give ourselves a chance, was important.
"We had one chance and one goal in the first half and we went in at the break thinking 'we have given ourselves a chance here, we have 45 minutes in the second half to get a result'.
"As I said, it was not the start we wanted but at the same time, it says a lot about our character that we were prepared to fight.
"We know we need to continue to work and get better as a team and we're not denying that. But this is a step in the right direction and something for us to build on.
"Obviously the three games before Swansea were not out best showings. In saying that, it's nice to come on the road and get something from this game.
"It's slightly disappointing being 2-1 up in the 94th minute. We were trying to hold on and get the three points.
"I've got mixed emotions on it all, to be honest. We felt we could have nicked it and are disappointed not to pick up all three."
Guzan also dismissed the terrible trio of games before Swansea.
He added: "At the end of the day if you lose 8-0 or 1-0, it is still three points. The goals conceded have not been flattering but at the same time we know it is a handful of games.
"We got a 2-2 draw now behind us and we look to move on.
"We do not get overly excited when we win or draw and we don't get too down when we lose - and that's regardless of the scoreline.
"It hasn't been the results that we have wanted but we have continued to keep each other's spirits up and continue to put forward."
