Lambert - Our support in the jaws of defeat was unbelievable
Paul Lambert says he really appreciated the backing of the fans as they sang his name while in the jaws of the defeat to Tottenham.
All four sides of the stadium chanted 'Paul Lambert's claret and blue army' throughout the final 10 minutes of the clash with Tottenham, with the team 4-0 down.
Lambert was humbled by the show of support, given the scoreline at the time.
But he wasn't amazed because he knows full-well the quality of the fanbase here and appreciates their knowledge of what he's trying to do to lift the club long-term.
He said: "The crowd are with us. I heard it the other night. It was unbelievable.
"It's the first time in a long time that I have heard a crowd like that. They stayed with us.
"And that final 10 minutes their noise was a constant thing for us.
"That's the first time in many a year that I have heard something like that.
"It was truly unbelievable. But I think they see what we're trying to do.
"They know we've had to pick it up and try to make a go of it and lift the lads. I really appreciate it. It was incredible.
"But they were fantastic the way they got behind us. When you are 4-0 down the crowd normally leave but our fans stayed and sung their songs. It was brilliant."
